South Carolina Legal Requirements

A South Carolina marriage license is required before any marriage ceremony can be performed and may be obtained from any county in the state.

The local (Horry County) county office hours are Monday through Friday from 8AM to 4PM with offices in both North Myrtle Beach and Conway.

There is no blood test or physical exam required, but there is a required 24-hour waiting period in South Carolina. You will need a drivers license, social security number, or birth certificate for identification, and you should apply one day, then the following day return to get your license. Both parties must be present to apply, but either the bride or groom may pick up the license.
